The Set of 4 "I'm Alive with Clive" Mugs

The Set of 4 “I’m Alive with Clive” Mugs

As you’ll see from the picture above, there are four different styles of Mug, and you are likely to obtain the one you want if you are one of the ten winners.

For an entry to count, you must submit correct answers to all five questions and nominate a charity, a college and a radio station – the last vital step after you have submitted your answers.

In summary, if you watch This Week on Alive with Clive and enter The Inaugural Alive with Clive Bimonthly Contest before 10 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday, July 10, you will:

Companies, Charities, Colleges, Radio Stations, Singer/Songwriters and Alive with Clive Global Community Members – Let’s Play!

Hello Friends:

At last, it’s here:

The ultimate synergistic vehicle for the demonstration of synergistic philanthrocapitalism in action and the creation of an upward spiral of brilliance and joy in the world!

And it is in the form of the series of Alive with Clive Bimonthly Contests that are taking their place among the weekly activities that fascinate, stimulate and elevate all who participate!

These Contests are about to involve several additional groups of participants, and so in this Blog post I am going to list all the different groups that stand to benefit by being players in The Alive with Clive Bimonthly Contests.

Before doing so, though, I’d like to let you know that I just published a Press Release, Now Alive with Clive Is a Vital Voice on TV for Today’s Top Singer/Songwriters, in which I mentioned these Contests and all they involve, and you can see this Press Release when you click here.

Here are the different groups that stand to benefit by being players in The Alive with Clive Bimonthly Contests:

Singer/Songwriters

The singer/songwriters I have interviewed so far and will be interviewing on Alive with Clive in the weeks ahead are now going to be seen by many more people.

Members of The Alive with Clive Global Community

Members of The Alive with Clive Global Community who are entrepreneurs and have stepped forward to provide Prizes for The Inaugural Alive with Clive Bimonthly Contest, and those who provide Prizes in the future, will be become known by many more people, and those who watch This Week on Alive with Clive and enter the Contests will become eligible to win fantastic Prizes.

Here is a picture of one of the Prizes, the mouth-wateringly gorgeous handcrafted necklace and matching bracelet beaded with semi-precious gemstones — worth $120! — from BeadZbyRoZ:

Companies

Companies that sponsor or provide prizes for the Contests will also benefit from the growing interest and attention these Contests are destined to generate in the world, particularly since an appreciable percentage of the funds provided by sponsors is being contributed to charities.

To offer a Prize, please click here to complete the Alive with Clive Bimonthly Contest Prize Submission Form, or send an email to clive at alivewithclive.tv (use @ instead of at with no spaces).

Charities

For The Inaugural Alive with Clive Bimonthly Contest, I will help to promote a benefit concert for the charity that receives the most votes.  The singer/songwriters who will perform at the benefit concert for the charity will be selected from those who have been interviewed on Alive with Clive in collaboration with executives from the charity.

For subsequent Contests that are sponsored, the charity that receives the most votes will receive a portion of the proceeds received from sponsors.

Colleges

Anne-Margaret Redding, a singer/songwriter who has been interviewed on Alive with Clive and the founder of The Giving Tree Yoga Studio, in Astoria, New York, has not only provided a Prize for The Inaugural Alive with Clive Bimonthly Contest in the form of one month of unlimited yoga at her studio worth $150, free, but is also going to give the college that receives the most votes a two-hour workshop/concert described on her Web site, www.LiveYourPassionTour.com, worth $1,000!

Here’s a clip of Anne-Margaret Redding singing “Live In Love” on Alive with Clive on May 21, 2010:

Radio Stations

The radio station that receives the most votes will be given the opportunity to interview me and enable me to announce the winner of The Inaugural Alive with Clive Bimonthly Contest, as well as the winning charity and college, on the air.

The interest in the Contest is thus likely to generate listeners for the radio station from supporters of the charities, students and alumni at colleges, and listeners of radio stations, and in turn additional attention will be devoted to singer/songwriters who’ve been interviewed on Alive with Clive.

Furthermore, listeners can be encouraged to enter future Contests with incentives in the form of Prizes provided by Sponsors.

So, folks, there you have it — a neatly interconnected exchange of energy, producing joy and camaraderie!

To enter The Inaugural Alive with Clive Bimonthly Contest, all you have to do is:

  1. Click here to register for free (or log in) as a Bronze Member of The Alive with Clive Global Community;
  2. Watch This Week on Alive with Clive only once or every week between now and July 31, 2013;

The Inaugural Alive with Clive Monthly Contest – Latest Update

Hello Friends:

A month has elapsed since I first announced the launch of The Inaugural Alive with Clive Monthly Contest on April 30, 2013, with the Blog post you’ll see when you click here.

Since then I have added five phenomenal Prizes to the list of Prizes available, and you can see them when you click here.

Here is a list of the six Prizes:

  1.  A Set of 4 Alive with Clive Mugs, including shipping, worth $120;
  2.  One month of unlimited yoga FREE from The Giving Tree Yoga Studio, worth $150;
  3.  A $300 discount on the branding, design and creation of a full Web site from Grassroots Consulting;
  4. A FREE one-hour photo shoot from Studio 7 Photography, NYC, worth $250;
  5. A magnificent string of beads and matching bracelet made with semi-precious gemstones from BeadZbyRoZ, worth $120; and
  6. A FREE one-hour in-home or office stress and tension relieving massage from Licensed Massage Therapist, Kathy Branch, worth $150.

In this Blog post, though, I have a major announcement, and that is that while it was originally my intention that no person could win more than one Prize, I am now converting the Contest into a Winner-Take-All Contest, which means that there will be ONLY ONE WINNER and that person will win ALL the Prizes, which are worth more than $1,000.

While I continue to remain open to receiving and providing more Prizes from any corporation or entrepreneur who would like to benefit from the immense additional publicity this Contest is going to generate in the next couple of months, the total number of Prizes in this Inaugural Alive with Clive Monthly Contest will not exceed ten.

In addition, over the past month I have had an opportunity to gauge just how much effort is required to create and implement this Contest, and so for the foreseeable future, it is going to be a bimonthly Contest.

[As an interesting aside, I looked up the meaning of the word “bimonthly” in my Webster’s Dictionary, and this is what it says:

1: once every two months  2: twice a month

Surprising though it is to me that a word can have two distinct meanings that are totally contradictory, when I use the word bimonthly in the context of the Contest, I am using it to mean once every two months.]

I intend, furthermore, to use whatever available time I have in the next few weeks to generate a desire among radio stations to compete for the opportunity to have me announce the WINNER of ALL the Prizes on the radio station that causes the most listeners to enter the Contest.  While the infrastructure for the Contest is not yet equipped for this feature, I plan to have this feature incorporated into the infrastructure as soon as possible.

This Inaugural Alive with Clive Bimonthly Contest is now scheduled to run through July 31, 2013.

To enter the Contest and be eligible to WIN ALL SIX PRIZES, all you have to do is the following:

  1. Click here to first become a Member of The Alive with Clive Global Community for free (if you are not already a Member) or log into The Alive with Clive Global Community with your unique username and password if you are already a Member; then
  2. Click on the Tab to see This Week on Alive with Clive to watch only one episode* of This Week on Alive with Clive between now and July 31; and
  3. Submit the correct answers to the five questions relating to the show you watch in accordance with the directions on the Web page for the show.

* While you will increase your chances of winning ALL SIX PRIZES if you watch more than one show and submit an entry in more than one week, or in every week between now and July 31, it is possible that the WINNER will be someone who watches only one show and submits only one entry.

Remember, This Week on Alive with Clive gives you the chance to see the world’s most talented emerging and established singer/songwriters and bands on TV – FREE!

I look forward to seeing your entries in this Inaugural Alive with Clive Bimonthly Contest each week through the end of July, 2013.

Best regards.

Introducing Licensed Massage Therapist, Kathy Branch!

Hello Friends:

As the founder of The Alive with Clive Global Community (“The AWCGC”), my mission is to create synergies between companies, charities, singer/songwriters and Members of The AWCGC so that the life of everyone who is any way connected – either directly or indirectly – to The AWCGC is enhanced as a result of that connection!

With this mission in mind, I’d like to introduce you to Kathy Branch, who is now a Licensed Massage Therapist.

Historically, while I have always had a workout two to three times a week, I have not been one to have a massage with any degree of regularity.

In December last year, I injured my right shoulder in doing more than 10 pullups on a pullup bar.  This injury continued to plague me for the last five months, so much so that I had almost become resigned to living with the pain in my right shoulder for the rest of my life.  A couple of sessions with a physiotherapist while I was in Cape Town this past January helped, but didn’t alleviate the pain, and while self-administered shoulder massages with IcyHot also provided some relief, I continued to experience lingering pain in the region of my right shoulder all the time.

Enter Kathy!

Kathy knew 30 years ago that she wanted to be a licensed massage therapist.  Life intervened, however, and in the past 30 years, in addition to raising four children who are now age 28, 26, 24 and 18, she was a police officer for 25 of the 30 years.  In 2012, she got back in touch with her dream and became a licensed massage therapist within seven months.  She also teaches swimming and is a certified water safety instructor.

She told me she is now in action to develop a practice of going to people’s homes and offices to give them massages.  “Would I like to give her a try?”  I said sure.

After an hour on Kathy’s table in my apartment this past week, the pain in my shoulder has disappeared.  In addition, Kathy told me that my spine was out of alignment.  With a few stretch moves she performed while I was on her table, I no longer feel pain after I bend over to tie my shoe laces or tuck in the sheets to make my bed.

In short, I am getting used to living each day without having to deal with the aches and pains to which I had become accustomed and which I had attributed to the stresses and strains of modern-day living.

Kathy is keen to develop a loyal and supportive clientele and I am eager to receive my next massage from Kathy as soon as possible.

So, while at the gym a couple of days after my massage, I found myself creating an idea for Kathy and me to work together to create synergies that will benefit her, you and me.

To implement my idea, I created this postcard for Kathy:

Get a Massage, Free! Pre-pay for four and the fifth is on Kathy Branch

Get a Massage, Free! Pre-pay for four and the fifth is on Kathy Branch

Kathy provides massages mainly in Manhattan and Westchester, although I’m sure if you’re willing to pay for her to go to Hawaii or any other similarly idyllic locale, she’ll willingly oblige!

You can pre-pay for these massages for:

  • Yourself and a group of your friends, each of whom can chip in $96 for a massage;
  • Awards for salespeople in your organization who win sales contests;
  • Clients or customers as your way of saying thank you for their patronage;
  • Friends or members of your immediate or extended family;
  • Incentives to help you sell products or services you offer; or
  • Gifts to charities to help them raise funds.

I also said I’d give Kathy three sets of four Alive with Clive Mugs, shown below, that are available for sale in The Alive with Clive Gift Store, to give away to the first three people to pre-pay for four massages so they get a fifth free.

The Set of 4 "I'm Alive with Clive" Mugs

The Set of 4 Alive with Clive Mugs

Within an hour of the implementation of this idea, one person pre-paid for one set of four massages to obtain a fifth free, so now . . .

If you are one of the next TWO people to take Kathy up on this incredible offer, you too will also receive the beautiful set of four Alive with Clive Mugs, with free shipping – a gift worth over $120!

So don’t delay.  Be one of the next two to jump on this offer so you can receive the beautiful set of four Alive with Clive Mugs, or, if you aren’t one of the next two, at least pre-pay for your four massages to get your fifth free before Kathy raises the price she charges for her massages or becomes so busy that she compels me to remove this offer from the Internet immediately.

To pre-pay for your four massages from Kathy so you get your fifth one free, click on the Buy Now Button below.

PayPalBuyNow

If you are one of the next two to order your massages, I’ll let you know within 24 hours from the time you pre-pay for your four massages to get your fifth one free that you will be receiving your set of four Alive with Clive Mugs soon.

When Kathy provides a single massage, she charges $125.  For those who are willing to pre-pay online for a single massage, however, she charges just $105.

If you’d like to pre-pay for just one massage and save $20, click here.

I highly recommend you take advantage of this phenomenal opportunity to discover what a massage from Kathy — or a few — can do for you!

Best regards.

Announcing . . . The Alive with Clive Monthly Contests!

Hello Friends:

It gives me great pleasure to announce the launch of the brand new Alive with Clive Monthly Contests!

Starting on May 2 through July 31, 2013, and every month thereafter, you will have the opportunity to win fabulous prizes every month in these contests by answering five questions every week about each show on This Week on Alive with Clive.

Now, the most talented emerging and established singer/songwriters and bands in the world have even more reason to appear on Alive with Clive, because they are about to get much more exposure!

How To Enter

To be entered in the contest, you need answer five questions from only one This Week on Alive with Clive show in any month, and you will increase your chances of winning a prize if you watch two or more This Week on Alive with Clive shows in any month.

Starting at Noon on Thursday, May 2, 2013, and at Noon every Thursday thereafter, you will find a link to the five questions for each show on the Web page for This Week on Alive with Clive after you log into The Alive with Clive Global Community as a Member with your unique username and password.

To enter the contest, you don’t have to be a Gold or Silver Member of The Alive with Clive Global Community.

Anyone who is a fully-fledged Bronze Member of The Alive with Clive Global Community is eligible to enter each contest and win a prize in any month. (You’re a fully-fledged Bronze Member if you registered to become a Bronze Member and clicked on the link in the email you received after you registered to confirm your registration.)

To become a Bronze Member of The Alive with Clive Global Community now, click here.

The Prizes

The Prizes you can win will be provided by Members of The Alive with Clive Global Community.  To give me time to obtain Prizes and fine-tune all aspects of the infrastructure and systems necessary to implement the Contest, the first “month” of the Contest will take place through July, 2013, and the Winners of the Prizes for the Alive with Clive Monthly Contest for the period ending on July 31, 2013, will be announced by Noon Eastern on August 5, 2013.

Benefits of Providing a Prize

If you or a business you represent would like to gain several weeks’ worth of phenomenal free exposure for a product or service you provide, please click here to register as a Member of The Alive with Clive Global Community if you have not already done so, and then fill out this form to tell me all about the prize you would like to offer.  Your offer to provide a prize will not be considered unless and until you are a Member of The Alive with Clive Global Community.

If your prize is selected, it will be shown through July 31, 2013, on the Web page created exclusively for Prizes For This Month’s Alive with Clive Monthly Contest, which you can see when you click here, and will be seen, potentially, by the thousands of people who visit the page.

Submissions for Prize offerings for the period ending on July 31, 2013, must be received by Friday, May 24, at 11.59 p.m. Eastern time.  (In future, submissions will be due before the start of the month for which the Prize will be made available.)

For the first Monthly Contest, I am going to limit the number of prizes to ten, and select the nine remaining prizes from those offered based on such criteria as value, popularity, utility, accessibility and uniqueness.  In due course, after interest in these Monthly Alive with Clive Contests increases, I will accept and offer more prizes, although I will probably limit the number of prizes for any monthly contest to the 20 most valuable and desirable offered.

As a provider of a Prize, you’ll need to send the Prize or the information necessary to benefit from the Prize to the winner of the Prize you are providing within five days after the day on which you receive the name and address of the winner of the Prize you are providing.  As a Winner of a Prize, if your prize is in the form of a service, you may have to claim your prize within a specified number of days, or request an extension.

The Types of Prizes

Prizes can be in the form of tangible goods or services, digital products, discounts, coupons, subscriptions, tickets for events, or other items that convey value to the winner.  They can be provided by any kind of entrepreneur or business, from solopreneurs just starting out to companies in the Fortune 100, and singer/songwriters who’d like to attract attention to their music are encouraged to offer their CDs or house concerts as prizes too!

For example, one of the prizes for this first Alive with Clive Monthly Contest is going to be a set of four beautiful “I’m Alive with Clive” Mugs worth $99.97!

Here’s a picture of the Set of 4 “I’m Alive with Clive” Mugs, which is available for purchase in The Alive with Clive Gift Store:

The Involvement of Charities

A list of charities will soon be posted on my Web site.  The charity on this list that receives the most nominations by viewers of This Week on Alive with Clive who enter the first Contest will be awarded with a benefit concert I will help to promote at which singer/songwriters who have appeared on Alive with Clive will be selected to perform.  Charities will thus have an incentive to encourage their supporters to participate in the Contest and as a result the singer/songwriters who appear on Alive with Clive, and the businesses and entrepreneurs who provide selected Prizes, will be seen by many more people.  If you represent a charity that would like to be included on the list, please send an email to me at clive at alivewithclive.tv (use @ sign for at) with the words “Charity for AWC Monthly Contest” on the subject line.

Upward Spiral of Brilliance and Joy

I’m excited about these Contests and look forward to seeing the enthusiasm and interest they are destined to generate not just for the singer/songwriters and bands featured on Alive with Clive, but for all who provide Prizes that are selected as well!

So, if you or a business you represent would like to offer a Prize to be selected as one of the Top 10 for this first Alive with Clive Monthly Contest, please click here to register for free as a Bronze Member of The Alive with Clive Global Community (if you haven’t already done so), and then fill out the form you’ll see when you click here.

I look forward to receiving your submissions for Prizes by 11.59 p.m. Eastern on Friday, May 24, and entries in the first Alive with Clive Monthly Contest during the period from Noon on May 2 until July 31, 2013.

Best regards.

The First Person To Be Seen With Me In My “I’m Alive with Clive” T!

Hello Friends:

I’m about to make an exciting announcement in my next Blog post.  Before I do, though, I need to tie up one loose end left from my previous Blog post I published on March 4, 2013.

If you read that Blog post, you will have noted that I promised to reveal “The first person in the world to be featured in a picture with me wearing my ‘I’m Alive with Clive’ T-shirt!”

Before I reveal who that is, I’d first like to provide you with some background information:

In my previous Blog post, I posted this picture of me standing at the top of Table Mountain in the middle of two beaches, Clifton and Camps Bay, and mentioned that Clifton Beach is my most favorite beach in the world:

Camps Bay and Clifton Beaches in the background

Camps Bay and Clifton Beaches in the background

The weather in Cape Town on January 31, 2012 – the day on which I lost my [“I’m Alive with Clive T-shirt’s] virginity – was absolutely spectacular. In the afternoon of that day, after I went up the Cableway, I went to Clifton Beach, and since I was still wearing my “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt, I had a couple of pictures taken of me on the beach.

Here’s the first, beneath the mountain known as Lion’s Head:

Lion's Head from Clifton

The view of Lion’s Head from Clifton

And here’s the second, taken later in the afternoon:

The view of Clifton from 4th Beach

The view of Clifton from 4th Beach

In the background, you can almost see the incredible multi-million dollar mansions, each a feat of engineering in its own right, that have been erected on the steep mountain slopes above the roads at the top of the beach.

For those not yet familiar with the parking situation in Cape Town, now whenever you park your car there, you are invited to tip the parking attendant in each parking lot.  These attendants are part of some unofficial yet organized group of parking attendants.  They help you to locate parking spots in busy areas, help direct you when squeezing your car into tight spaces, watch your car for you while you are at your destination, and give you far more value than you get from putting money in a meter, so I always tip the attendants and tend to engage them in conversation to find out about their lives.

The parking attendant on duty at the top of 4th Beach, Clifton, when I went to retrieve my car after being on the beach on January 31, was a man by the name of Junior Baraka.  He told me he is from The Congo and had recently earned R3,500 (approximately $400) by teaching a couple how to speak French over the course of six months.  I suggested that he build a Web site to let people know that he provides French lessons, and steered him towards wordpress.com to learn how to create a Web site for free.

He was thrilled with the information I conveyed to him, since he thought he couldn’t afford to build a Web site, and saw it as a gateway to creating a rewarding future.

To commemorate the occasion, I asked a friend of his to take a couple of pictures with him and me in the dusk.

So here, ladies and gentlemen, are the pictures of me and Junior Baraka, the first person in the world to be seen in a photograph with me on the day I lost my [“I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt’s] virginity.

When you go to Cape Town, I highly recommend you visit Clifton Beach and, yes, have a swim in the ice-cold Atlantic Ocean there too.  It will be one of the most refreshing things in your life you ever do!

Stay tuned for my next Blog post with my exciting announcent, which I’ll be publishing soon.

Best regards.

Revealed At Last — Where I Lost My [“I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt’s] Virginity!

Hello Friends:

If you have read my previous two Blog posts, you will have noted that I recently lost my “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt’s virginity, and that I went up the Cableway to the top of Table Mountain again when I was in Cape Town on January 31.

As already mentioned, I myself had owned my “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt for almost three years without wearing it, without having been seen in public in it, and without having been photographed in it with another person in the same picture.

I also mentioned that I wanted to lose my “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt’s virginity at not just any place, but at a special place, and that I spent many months thinking about the best to place to be for me to lose my “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt’s virginity.

Well, if, after reading my previous two Blog posts, you concluded that I must have chosen to lose my “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt’s virginity on Table Mountain, you are correct!

And today for the first time I am revealing pictures that were taken of me for the very first time in my “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt!

While I had intended that the very first picture of me in my “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt be on top of Table Mountain, when I saw the banner proclaiming Our African Wonder as an Official New 7 Wonder of Nature at the cable station at the foot of Table Mountain, I couldn’t resist the temptation to have my picture taken under that banner before making the ascent in the cable car to the top of Table Mountain.

Here, again, is  the banner:

Banner of Our African Wonder, Table Mountain

And so, Ladies and Gentlemen, here is the very first picture taken of me in my “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt:

The first picture of Clive Swersky in his "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt

The first picture of me in my “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt

While I was having my picture taken under the banner, Ifraan Karim, a visitor from the United Kingdom with a sophisticated camera also took pictures of me not just there but in the cable car in motion as well.

Here’s one of the pictures Ifraan took of me facing the banner so you can see the words “Creating An Upward Spiral Of Brilliance And Joy In The World!” on the back of my “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt:

Me, facing the banner for Our African Wonder

Here’s one Ifraan took in the cable car going up the mountain:

You can’t see me, but you can see my shirt

And here’s another:

Picture of me on the Cable Car

As previously mentioned, the panoramic vistas of Cape Town and the surrounding peninsula from the top of Table Mountain are truly spectacular, and I wanted to capture them in the background.

So, at various points on top of the mountain, with Ifraan no longer nearby, I asked sightseers who were there to take pictures of me with my camera.

Here’s a picture with Cape Town’s famous Victoria and Alfred Waterfront in the background:

In this picture of the scenery facing Northwest, on my immediate right you can see one of Cape Town’s Big 6 “must-visit” places, Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, in the distance, and the small white “doughnut” you see further to the right is the new Cape Town Stadium, which was built for the FIFA World Cup Soccer Matches that were played in 2010, major sporting events and rock concerts for famous bands and singer/songwriters, including U2, The Eagles and Neil Diamond:

In this picture taken on the Western side of the top of Table Mountain, the back of Lion’s Head is to my immediate right and once again Robben Island can be seen further to the right in the distance:

In this picture of the scenery facing West, I am standing “in the middle” of Clifton Beach, my most favorite beach in the world, on my left, and Camps Bay Beach on my right.

With 20/20 hindsight, I can see that the quality of other pictures not shown in this Blog post would have been enhanced had they been taken by a professional photographer, and I realize what an art it is to take great pictures.

In the two pictures of me that are facing South, behind me you can see the way to Cape Point, the most southerly tip of Africa.

Here’s the first, of me facing the camera:

And here’s the second, with my back to the camera:

I’m pleased that I now have an album full of pictures, and fond memories, of my “Losing My [“I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt’s] Virginity Photo Shoot” on Table Mountain — with me on top of the world at the bottom of the world — and I’ve enjoyed sharing the pictures in this Blog post with you!

Still to be revealed in a subsequent Blog post:  The first person in the world to be featured in a picture with me wearing my “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt!

Best regards.

Cape Town’s Table Mountain: A Majestic Tourist Experience!

Hello Friends:

On January 31, 2013, during a recent trip to Cape Town, the city in which I spent the first 26 years of my life, I did what 800,000 tourists to Cape Town do every year:  I took a cable car ride up to the top of Table Mountain.

Here’s a picture of Table Mountain I took from Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront when I was there in February 2012.

View of Table Mountain from the V&A Waterfront

As mentioned on this Web page about Table Mountain, out of 440 nominations, together with:

    • The Amazon Rain Forest in South America;
    • Ha Long Bay in Vietnam;
    • Iguazu Falls in Argentina and Brazil;
    • Jeju Island in South Korea;
    • Komodo in Indonesia; and
    • The Puerto Princesa Underground River in the Philippines,

in May 2012, after a campaign that attracted more than 100 million global votes, it was confirmed that Table Mountain became one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature!

Table Mountain, the New 7 Wonder of Nature

Table Mountain, Official New 7 Wonder of Nature

Table Mountain forms the backdrop to the center of Cape Town itself, and gives the city its charm and character.  On days when the feisty south-easter is blowing, a white cloud can be seen to form a tablecloth over the mountain — a remarkable sight to behold!

It’s been reported that Table Mountain is approximately 260 million years old.  By comparison, the Andes are about 250 million years old, the Rockies are about 60 million, the Himalayas are 40 million and the Alps are 32 million years old.

The highest point of Table Mountain is 1,085m (3,559ft), marked by Maclear’s Beacon.  A large stone cairn – built by Sir Thomas Maclear in 1844 – marks the exact spot.

The Cableway has been in operation since 1929, and has a 100% safety record.

The new cable cars, called Rotairs, which were introduced in 1997, were imported from Switzerland. These cable cars are in operation in only two other places in the world, Titlis in the Swiss Alps in Switzerland, and Palm Springs in America.

To date, the Cableway has transported more than 21 million visitors to the summit.  The floor of each cable car rotates giving everyone a 360 degree view on the way up and down. There is room for 65 passengers on each cable car, it takes about 5 minutes to reach or return from the top of the mountain, and the cable cars travel at a speed of up to 10 meters per second.

Famous personalities who have been up the Cableway include Oprah Winfrey, Sting, Steffi Graf, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Margaret Thatcher, Prince Andrew, Brooke Shields, Michael Buble, and Tina Turner.

To read the fascinating history behind the introduction and current operation of the Cableway, click here.

As you’ll see from pictures on this Web site, from the top of Table Mountain the vistas of the surrounding Cape peninsula are truly spectacular.

It’s best to go up the Cableway on a clear day when the wind isn’t blowing.  During my stay in Cape Town in January, the weather on many of the days was perfect for a ride up the Cableway, and I chose to make the trip on January 31.

Here’s a picture of my ticket, with Cape Town Harbor in the background:

Round-trip ticket to ride the Cableway

It shows the price for the round-trip ticket as R205 – less than $25.

Tourists learn quickly that when the day dawns, if there are no clouds in the sky and the wind is not blowing, conditions are ideal for a trip up the Cableway.  So at around 10 a.m. long lines begin to form to buy tickets and go up the mountain in the cable cars.

Here is a picture of the throng of people waiting in line to go up the Cableway:

Throng of people waiting in line to ride the Cableway to the top of Table Mountain

I joined this line at about 11.10 a.m. after waiting in line for about ten minutes to buy my ticket, and waited about 50 minutes for my turn to go up the mountain in one of the cable cars.

While waiting to board the cable car in the designated entrance to the boarding platform, I took this picture of one of the cable cars as it was returning to the lower cable station:

Cable Car in motion at the foot of Table Mountain

I also took this picture of the cable station at the top of the mountain:

Cable Station at the top of Table Mountain

Cable Station at the top of Table Mountain

If you look closely, you’ll see I captured the two cable cars in the middle of their ascent and descent, at the exact moment they were passing each other.

And I also took this picture of the new vertical banner that mentions that Table Mountain is now a New 7 Wonder of Nature:

Banner of African Wonder, Table Mountain

Banner of African Wonder, Table Mountain

I went up to the top of the mountain on this excursion long enough to have some pictures taken, and noted that there is now a top-notch restaurant as well as a souvenir shop there.

Building that houses the restaurant and souvenir shop on top of Table Mountain

Building that houses the restaurant and souvenir shop on top of Table Mountain

By the time I returned to the lower station at the foot of the mountain at around 12.45 p.m., there were no lines.  The risk one takes of going later in the day, though, is that the wind could begin to blow, and you have less time to explore the top of the mountain before it gets colder at the top.

I realized on this last trip to Cape Town more so than ever that while you can take me out of Cape Town, you can’t take Cape Town out of me.

I highly recommend a visit to Cape Town and a trip up the Cableway, so that you experience this majestic New 7 Wonder of Nature yourself.

As noted on the back of the Table Mountain Cableway Information Guide, though, a visit to Cape Town will not be complete without visiting the other five must-see destinations in the Cape Town Big Six:  Cape Point, Groot Constantia, Kirstenbosch, Robben Island and the V&A Waterfront. . .

As well as Muizenberg, where the water in the ocean is warm, and . . .

My favorite beach in the world:  Clifton Beach, which you can see from the top of Table Mountain. . . .

And so many other places there too.

You will love it!

Best regards.

Losing My [“I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt’s] Virginity!

Hello Friends:

About three years ago, I created a special campaign to launch The “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt.

Here’s a picture of the front and back of the shirt, which also appears in the banner above:

The now famous "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt

The now famous “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt

As part of the campaign, I placed a special page on my Web site to recognize and acknowledge the “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt Launchers.  You can see who they are when you click here.

In addition, I published a few Blog posts with pictures of “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt Launchers wearing their “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt.

The first such Blog post featured my friend, Alive with Clive supporter and host of several Alive with Clive house concerts, Holly Yee:

Holly Yee, the first person in the world to be seen in an "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt, and Clive Swersky

The second featured the owner of the fabulous Dop Dop hair salon in the heart of New York City, Jo Blackwell-Preston, and her husband, world-renowned DJ, Kamau Preston:

Jo-Blackwell-Preston points to the wording imprinted on the back of her “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt, with Clive Swerky by her side

And the third featured the creators of the documentary, Just Laugh! — The Movie, Anton Evangelista and John Galasso:

Anton Evangelista and John Galasso in their "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirts

I recently received another surprise email from one of the singer/songwriters with a song in The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20, Kylie Edmond — a picture taken at the end of 2012 of another one of the singer/songwriters with a song in that compilation, Robert Randall, in his “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt.  Here’s that picture:

Robert Randall, lifting his sweater to reveal his "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt

When you look at the Blog posts about these T-shirt launchers, while you do see them in their “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirts, what you haven’t yet seen at all anywhere is yours truly, moi, in my own “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt.

In other words, for almost three years after the launch of the “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt, I had not yet worn my own personal “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt.  Or in terms familiar to Sir Richard Branson, my own “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt had not yet lost its virginity.

After all those months of owning an “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt I had not yet worn, you can appreciate that I was (a) aching to wear it and (b) itching have a photograph taken of me in it.

The question occupying my mind, though, was where would be the best place to have that first picture taken of me in my “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt?

    • Next to The Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island?
    • At the top of The Empire State Building?
    • At The Eiffel Tower or outside The Louvre in Paris?
    • In Red Square in Moscow?
    • In St. Peter’s Square in Rome?
    • Alongside The Great Wall of China?
    • In front of The Sydney Opera House?
    • At the foot of Mount Rushmore?
    • With the Dalai Lama at Machu Picchu?
    • With Sir Richard Branson at his villa on Necker Island?
    • With Cassandra Kubinski at her Release Concert for her new CD, Just Being Myself?
    • With Simon Cowell on the set of The X Factor?

As you can tell, I gave this question considerable thought, and then eventually, after all those months of deliberation, the answer became clear to me. . .

[To be continued]

I apologize for leaving you with this real cliffhanger (pun intended, for reasons that will soon become apparent), but for a clue to find the answer to the question: Where did I lose my “I’m Alive with Clive” T-shirt’s virginity? be on the lookout for my next Blog post.

Best regards.
