Song # 12: “Wings of an Angel” by Jason Gisser

Hello Friends:

“Wings of an Angel” by Jason Gisser is the 12th song in The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20.

Jason performed “Wings of an Angel” during his interview on Alive with Clive on November 20, 2009.

Here is a picture of me with Jason that was taken in the TV studio before his interview on Alive with Clive:

This is what you will discover about Jason from the Bio on his Web site, www.jasongissermusic.com:

Jason began playing music at a very young age. Influenced by funk, soul, and classic rock, he plays music that you can feel. He has played all over New York City at such venues as Kenny’s Castaways, The Bitter End, The C Note, Arlene’s Grocery, The Knitting Factory, Crash Mansion, and The Village East Theater to name a few and outside New York City at Texas Motor Speedway, The Paramount, Mexicali Live and Mohegan Sun. He has also played hundreds of benefits for such causes as The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, children orphaned by AIDS in Africa, breast cancer, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, abused women, child abuse, the FDNY, and the NYPD.  Whether Jason is playing Jimmy Buffet’s pre-concert party, or a production company’s Christmas party, he plays the music he plays with so much charisma and passion that he becomes the talk of the show.

In a testimonial I provided to Jason for his Web site, this is what I said:

“I’ve recently had the pleasure of seeing Jason perform live.  He is a powerful, charismatic and dynamic performer who moves audiences at their core and unabashedly shatters all limits to full self expression.”

Jason wrote “Wings of an Angel,” a heartwrenching song that captivates me every time I hear him sing it, in the aftermath of (1) the end of his marriage, (2) subsequently splitting up with the woman he dated thereafter, and then (3) seeing the woman he dated after that move to Israel.  All three of these relationships are addressed in the song in which he bemoaned his fate while at the same time wanting the best for the women with whom he had shared his life.

Here are a few lines from the lyrics of the song:

Pour yourself a glass of wine and listen to me cry

I sometimes think that’s all you need to get by

. . . .

Believe in all the prophecies

And hopes for the promised land

Trading all your luxuries

For the freedom of home by the sand

Trade your mind in for religion

Trading your spirit for fear

Give up all love has to offer

For a gun and a future that’s clear

May God carry you back home

On the wings of an angel
