“Live Your Life” by Lisa Redford is the eighth song in The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20.
Lisa has appeared on Alive with Clive twice and performed “Live Your Life” during her first interview on April 24, 2008.

Lisa is a versatile singer-songwriter from Norwich, UK, whose music has been described as “delicate acoustic roots pop with heartfelt lyrics, gorgeous melodies and stunning vocals.” Influenced by singer-songwriters such as Carole King, James Taylor, Neil Young, Chrissie Hynde and Shawn Colvin, Lisa began songwriting after singing with a band at major London venues, and has since played at several established venues in Europe and New York in the company of many well-known musicians, including such other guests who’ve been on Alive with Clive as Kylie Edmond, Anna Troy, Melissa Wrolstad and Kelsey Rauber from Girls Rock The Night!
In 2006, in an interview for the Italian Magazine, JamOnline, when asked about the songs she writes, Lisa had this to say:
Songs sometimes come really easily, it’s as if they seem to write themselves. When I feel really inspired and have some words and a title, sometimes the song can be very quick to write and finish. I can come up with melodies pretty quickly and it’s exciting when you write something you’re really happy with and you can’t wait to play it to people. . . .
My songs are very personal and are mostly about what’s going on in my life. I’ve also written about people I know and situations I’ve gone through. I am also inspired by books and films that have captured my imagination but there’s usually always a very personal strand running through the songs. Sometimes it feels like you’re really exposing yourself in front of an audience and I perform solo too which is even more bare. I love performing though so I just really get into it and I think people really respond if they feel you are putting something of yourself in the music.
“Live Your Life” is on Lisa’s third, highly-acclaimed, CD, Clouds with Silver, which was released in 2008, after the release of her second CD, Lost Again, in 2005, and her first, Slipstream, in 2003.
“Live Your Life” is a song that shines a light on the futility of (1) remaining trapped in one’s comfort zone, and (2) disregarding one’s intuition, to avoid failure and disappointment, yet it also provides a consoling dose of inspiration for those who have stepped out of their comfort zone and been met by broken promises, failure and disappointment. The underlying message of the song is that life is to be embraced not only for the rewards it has the potential to provide but also for whatever setbacks may be encountered along the way.

“Live Your Life” is a great song to hear at any time, but especially after you’ve experienced a setback, failure or disappointment, for it’s sure to inspire you to persist in your quest to achieve your goal.
