This is the fifth of ten Blog posts I’m devoting to counting down The Top 10 Alive with Clive Highlights of 2011.  In this Blog post, I discuss Highlight # 6 – The Alive with Clive Top 20 Music Videos.

Music videos have been with us for about the last 30 years. For as long as I can remember, because I appreciate the creativity and self-expression on display in them as well as the music, I have always enjoyed watching them.  Furthermore, while I hardly ever watch television even though I am the Host and Producer of Alive with Clive, the one show I like to watch every week is VH1 Top 20 Videos.

During 2011, I began to notice that singer/songwriters I’ve interviewed on Alive with Clive were releasing music videos.

Then in August of 2011, Cassandra Kubinski, who has been interviewed on Alive with Clive more times than any other singer/songwriter, released two new music videos on the same day.  One was for her song, “Just Being Myself,” and the other was for her song, “Windblown Girl.”   These two music videos followed the earlier release of her music video for “Textual Healing,” her humorous, creative and “revealing” version of Marvin Gaye’s hit song, “Sexual Healing.”

Fueled by inspiration from Cassandra, I decided to set up a Page on my Blog to feature the music videos created by singer/songwriters who’ve been guests on Alive with Clive, and made an announcement about this Page in a Blog post you’ll see when you click here.  To see the Page for The Alive with Clive Top 20 Music Videos, click here.

I’ve just updated the Page to include the colorful and kaleidoscopic music video for the song, “Let’s Go,” by Madi Diaz, a fan favorite on The Alive with Clive TV Channel on YouTube, which you’ll find when you click here, as well as the moving, heartwarming, and poignant music video for the song, “Hero,” by Annie Fitzgerald.

Since Irena Hart is the highest-ranking singer/songwriter with a music video, and currently holds the # 2 spot, in The Alive with Clive Top 20, her music video for her song, “Heart Strings,” is the # 1 video on The Alive with Clive Top 20 Music Videos Chart:

As mentioned in the Blog post with the announcement, initially more than twenty music videos will be featured on this Page, but I anticipate that over time, as more videos are produced by singer/songwriters who have been interviewed on Alive with Clive, only the Top 20 will be featured.  And where a singer/songwriter has released more than one video, in all likelihood the one with the most views on YouTubewill be featured.

In time, it’s possible that I’ll create a contest to find the most popular music video from a singer/songwriter who has been interviewed on Alive with Clive.

This is the fourth of ten Blog posts I’m devoting to counting down The Top 10 Alive with Clive Highlights of 2011.  In this Blog post, I discuss Highlight # 7 – Alive with Clive Milestones Met in 2011.

On the journey to create awareness on the Internet about Alive with Clive and the guests who have been interviewed on the show, I’m pleased to report that progress is being made as measured by the following milestones met during 2011:

1.  Alive with Clive Is Now In Its 8th Year

Alive with Clive began in the Fall of 2004 with the inauguration of the television show known as Alive with Claudia and Clive.  Claudia Fox was my co-host and was the driving force behind the creation of the show.  After a couple of years, Claudia ended her involvement with the show and it became known as Alive with Clive.

Initially the slogan for the show was Turning Your Passion Into Profit!  Now it is referred to as The TV Show That Inspires You To Multiply Your Magnificence!

2.  Over 360 Guests Have Been on Alive with Clive

Since its inception over 7 years ago, more than 360 guests have been interviewed on Alive with Clive.  Initially guests included anyone who wanted to share their passion with the audience for the show.  These days only emerging or established singer/songwriters are being featured on the show.

3.  Article about Alive with Clive in WhitePlainsPatch

On August 25, 2011, I had the pleasure of meeting Brian Marschhauser, a journalist who writes for WhitePlainsPatch, at the ribbon cutting ceremony to launch the Web site, http://wpcommunitymedia.org.  On this Web site, Alive with Clive can now be seen live on the Internet at 8.30 p.m. Eastern time on Mondays and at 7 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesdays.

Brian subsequently wrote an article about Alive with Clive, titled “Meet Your White Plains Public Access Stars: Alive with Clive,” which was published online by WhitePlainsPatch on September 12, 2011.   To see the article, click here.

4.  Now Over 150 Are Eligible to be in The Alive with Clive Top 20

The year 2011 ended with 150 singer/songwriters eligible to be voted into The Alive with Clive Top 20, and one more has since been added to the list.

So far, The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20 compilation CD has been created and a series of additional Alive with Clive Top 20 compilation CDs are planned for the future.

5.  Over 100 Blog posts on Clive Swersky’s Blog

I started my Blog, known as Clive Swersky’s Blog, on December 26, 2008.  Almost three years later, in the middle of December of 2011, I published my 100th Blog post and have since gone on to publish another eight more.

As mentioned in the tag line in the banner, on my Blog I provide news about Alive with Clive, The Alive with Clive Top 20, and Synergistic Philanthrocapitalism.  In the weeks ahead, you can expect to see several more Blog posts about, among other topics, songs that will be entered in the upcoming contest to find the most inspiring song sung on Alive with Clive so far.

6.  Over 200 video clips on The Alive with Clive TV Channel on YouTube

The first video clip from Alive with Clive, featuring Joséphine accompanied by Craig Wilson singing “I Think Of You,” was added to The Alive with Clive TV Channel on YouTube on August 5, 2008.  Since then another 205 video clips have been added to the Channel, and more on the way!

7.  Over 50,000 views on The Alive with Clive TV Channel on YouTube

As more video clips were being added to The Alive with Clive TV Channel on YouTube, viewership reached more than 50,000 views before the end of 2011 and continues to increase.

In the weeks ahead, as interest in the upcoming contest to find the most inspiring song sung on Alive with Clive so far begins to grow and more video clips continue to be added to The Alive with Clive TV Channel on YouTube, daily views are likely to increase dramatically.

8.  70 Subscribers to The Alive with Clive TV Channel on YouTube

As with viewership of The Alive with Clive TV Channel on YouTube, the number of subscribers to the Channel, i.e., fans who want to be notified about when new clips are added, has reached 70, and continues to increase.

9.  Over 1,000 Friends on Facebook

I ended 2011 with over 1,000 friends on Facebook, 20% of the way to being “maxed out” with friends on Facebook, and have since added another 100 friends.  It gives me great pleasure to introduce guests who have appeared on Alive with Clive to my friends on Facebook.

10.  The Alive with Clive TV Show Fan Page on Facebook

During 2011, I created The Alive with Clive TV Show Page on Facebook, and so far 75 fans of Alive with Clive have been to the Page to “Like” it.  Each week, mention is made on this Page of the guest on This Week on Alive with Clive.  I am looking forward to building a strong following of fans of Alive with Clive on Facebook in the months ahead.  To “Like” the Page, click here.

Noticeably absent from this list of ten milestones:  My progress on Twitter.  I ended the year with just over 200 followers on Twitter. This is the third of ten Blog posts I’m devoting to counting down The Top 10 Alive with Clive Highlights of 2011.  In this Blog post, I discuss Highlight # 8 – The Alive with Clive December 17 Concert at Holly’s Home.

The concert on December 17 at the home of Holly Yee featured Melissa Wrolstad and Cassandra Kubinski, and was held to celebrate the release of Melissa’s brand new EP, Adventures of a Cheese Princess.

Melissa was able to complete the creation and production of her EP after a successful campaign through Kickstarter to raise the necessary funding.

Cassandra has appeared on Alive with Clive on several occasions, and recently completed back-to-back interviews on Alive with Clive for the last week of 2011 and the first week of 2012.

Cassandra opened the evening with a wonderful array and display of her deeply moving and rich singing and songwriting, at times sharing intriguing details about her life and the steps involved in her song-creation process.  It is always a joy to be in the audience when Cassandra performs, and with every performance she reaches higher levels of excellence.

Melissa appeared on Alive with Clive in September of 2009, and delighted those in attendance with her immense talent and outrageous sense of humor.  Melissa is unique in that she plays several different musical instruments, including the violin, the piano, the guitar, the banjo, the mandolin and the ukulele, and at one point she even tap-danced while playing the ukulele.

This is the second of ten Blog posts I’m devoting to counting down The Top 10 Alive with Clive Highlights of 2011.  In this Blog post, I discuss Highlight # 9 – The Launch of The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20 CD.

The idea for the creation of The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20 CD began as a thought in May of 2008 after I read a disturbing article on msnbc.com about the AIDS crisis in South Africa.  Of the 48 million people in the country, the headline read, estimates indicate that 5.4 million have AIDS.  To see the article, click here.

So I decided then to create a compilation CD featuring a song from each singer/songwriter I’d interviewed on Alive with Clive who received enough votes to be in The Alive with Clive Top 20.  And my initial plan was to sell at least 50 million CDs or a downloadable version to raise at least a billion dollars for people affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa.

In August of 2010, in a Blog post you’ll see when you click here, I announced the songs to be included in The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20, and then went to work to create it.

In a Press Release published on December 1, 2010, under the headline, World AIDS Day 2010 Marks Start of Launch of The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20, which you’ll see when you click here, I announced that the downloadable version of The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20 was available for purchase.

For the launch of The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20 physical CD in the first quarter of 2011, I initially decided to make 100 copies of an exclusive signed and numbered limited edition of the CD available to Bronze Members of The Alive with Clive Global Community who were among the first 100 to become Silver Members.  To see the Blog post in which I discussed the inserts for the jewel case for the CD, click here.

While my goal to raise at least a billion dollars for people affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa remains intact, I have modified the plan to achieve that result.

• Contributing a portion of monthly subscriptions paid by members in the future to people affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa; and

Before February 3, 2011, while clips from Alive with Clive were (and still are) available on The Alive with Clive TV Channel on YouTube, which you can see when you click here, to see full length versions of shows on Alive with Clive you had to physically be in front of a TV set to watch Channel 76 in White Plains at 8.30 p.m. Eastern time on a Monday evening or at 7 p.m. Eastern time on a Wednesday evening (or in a few other surrounding areas at different times).

All that changed on February 3, 2011, because from that date on, as mentioned in my Blog post of February 7, 2011, titled “Alive with Clive Is Now Truly Global,” which you can see when you click here, with the launch of The Alive with Clive Global Community fans of Alive with Clive who became Bronze Members have been able to see full length versions of This Week on Alive with Clive each week at any time online in the members area for The Alive with Clive Global Community.

In addition, in certain weeks contests were held to encourage fans of Alive with Clive to become members of The Alive with Clive Global Community and watch This Week on Alive with Clive.  Each contest called for viewers to “Like” The Alive with Clive TV Show Page on Facebook, answer five questions from the interview for the week and submit their answers to be entered in a drawing for five participants to win the CD of the singer/songwriter being interviewed.

The following CDs were offered in five different weekly contests during the year:

• See The Light, by Jeneen Terrana;
• Bitch Get Fit, by NLX (Natasha Alexandra);
• Mystery of Viburnum, by Kim Lamothe Tree-Oh;
• Here Goes Nothing, by Paul Tabachneck; and
• Monday Night Smoker, by Sarah Chesler, with a bonus, Enjoy the View, the EP by Jeff Jacobs; and

More contests to win prizes will be held in 2012.

In 2009, after I had interviewed several singer/songwriters on Alive with Clive, it occurred to me that many of the songs I heard on the show were inspirational in nature.

So, on March 22, 2009, in a Blog post entitled “Your Life Depends on This!” which you can see when you click here, I announced that I was launching a contest to determine The Most Inspiring Song Sung on Alive with Clive So Far!

For the purposes of the contest, between March 23 and December 24, 2009, I published 22 blog posts on the following 22 songs:

Since December 24, 2009, I’ve been devoting my attention to other projects including:

• Dealing with a major life-threatening health challenge;
• Continuing to interview guests on Alive with Clive; and
• The imminent launch of The Alive with Clive Gift Store.

So the contest to find The Most Inspiring Song Sung on Alive with Clive So Far! was thus put on hold.

In the past two years, though, I have continued to hear many more inspiring songs sung by singer/songwriters I’ve interviewed on Alive with Clive.

And ideas to cause worldwide attention to be focused on the contest have continued to percolate inside my head.

So now I’ve decided to resuscitate the contest to determine The Most Inspiring Song Sung on Alive with Clive So Far! and make it far more breathtaking than I originally imagined it could be!

Here’s an outline of the current plan I have in mind:

Step One: 

I will continue to write Blog posts about additional songs I regard as inspirational in nature, and these songs will be eligible to win the contest.

Step Two: 

The point will be reached at which all the songs to be entered in the contest will be determined.

Step Three: 

There will then be two rounds of voting:

First, voting will take place to determine which songs are most popular and which songs least popular. 

Second, for three-day periods, the public will be asked to vote on one song against another and the winning song will then advance to the next round, like tennis players at Wimbledon move to the next round after winning a match.  Ultimately, the contest will be determined by voting between the two songs that reach the final!

Step Four: 

A sponsor will be sought to provide $100,000 in prize money.

The first $50,000 will be allocated as follows: 

• $35,000 to the singer/songwriter who performed the winning song;
• $10,000 to the runner-up; and
• $5,000 to the singer/songwriter who created the song that did not reach the final but received the higher number of votes in the semi-finals.  In the event of a tie, the $5,000 will be shared equally by the singer/songwriters who created the songs that reached the semi-finals but did not advance to the final. 

The second $50,000 will be allocated as follows: 

• $35,000 to the charity that receives the highest number of votes during the contest;
• $10,000 to the charity that receives the second highest number of votes; and
• $5,000 to the charity that receives the third highest number of votes. 

Members of the public will have the opportunity to nominate charities with IRC Section 501(c)(3) status for voting. 

All who vote for songs or charities will be required to provide their name and email address before being eligible to vote and win prizes in drawings.

Step Five: 

Potential sponsors will bid for the right to be the sole and exclusive sponsor of the contest to contribute the $100,000 in prize money.  The bidding will start at $25,000, and there is likely to be more than one round of bidding.   The amount paid by the highest bidder will be used by Synergistic Promotions Corporation, the company managing the contest, to fund the creation and administration of the contest, and a portion of the amount paid by the highest bidder will be contributed to people affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa.

The contest will present the highest bidder with a multitude of far-reaching opportunities to gain national and international exposure, enhance goodwill, increase brand awareness and boost revenues.  The benefits of being the highest bidder will be set out in a sponsor proposal, which will be available soon.  In addition, the sponsor will be encouraged to make prizes available to be awarded in a drawing to voters who vote for songs in each match and to voters who vote for charities.  In the meantime, representatives of corporations interested in participating in the bidding should send an email to clive at alivewithclive.tv with the words “AWC-MISC Interested Bidder” on the subject line.

The contest has the potential to become one of the most intriguing and fascinating ever to be presented for the attention of music lovers all over the world, and is likely to be discussed on a multitude of different radio and television shows, as well as in magazines and newspapers, on an ongoing basis.  An added benefit for those who choose to participate and vote is that they will gain inspiration for their daily lives by listening to and reading the Blog posts about the songs.

Ultimately, the Blog posts about the songs will be compiled into a book about the contest to be sold in conjunction with a compilation CD or CDs with all the songs that were entered in the contest, and it will also be possible to download the songs.  Furthermore, the sole and exclusive sponsor will be featured in the book and the inserts to the CD, and on the Web pages relating to the contest.

Singer/songwriters who have been guests on Alive with Clive and who have songs in the contest will receive additional exposure from this contest.  Furthermore, even those who don’t have songs in the contest will be more likely to be noticed, and be seen in video clips posted on The Alive with Clive TV Channel on YouTube (which you can see when you click here), as a result of the contest too, because of the growing awareness about Alive with Clive. 

In addition, there is no limit on the number of songs a singer/songwriter can have entered in the contest, and theoretically it is possible for one singer/songwriter to win more than one prize. 

Singer/songwriters who have not yet appeared on Alive with Clive should thus take note of my Blog post, “The Top 20 Benefits of Being a Guest on Alive with Clive!” which you can see when you click here, and submit requests to be on the show as soon as possible, whether or not the songs to be performed on the show are inspirational in nature.

If necessary, aspects of the plan will be altered to enhance the contest.

This contest to determine The Most Inspiring Song Sung on Alive with Clive So Far! is in perfect alignment with my purpose for being on the planet, which is to be a catalyst for us to inspire each other to experience optimum fulfillment in life and thereby create an upward spiral of brilliance and joy in the world.  It will run in tandem with the contest to determine the singer/songwriters to be included in future Alive with Clive Top 20 compilations, for which voting is continuing.

It is also the forerunner to even more exciting and audacious contests that will be introduced after the winning song in The Contest To Find The Most Inspiring Song Sung on Alive with Clive So Far! is determined.

So be on the lookout for more information about this contest as well as Blog posts from me featuring additional inspiring songs that have been performed on Alive with Clive so far.

The stage is set for a fabulous concert at the home of Holly Yee this evening to celebrate the release of Adventures of a Cheese Princess, the brand new EP by Melissa Wrolstad.

Those who attend are destined to experience one of the most enchanting and invigorating evening of their lives with Melissa and Cassandra Kubinski, a mind-blowingly gifted and talented singer/songwriter whose songs will take your breath away!

When I interviewed Melissa on Alive with Clive in September of 2009, I remember mentioning that Melissa plays more musical instruments than anyone else I know.  She plays the guitar, the ukulele, the mandolin, the banjo, the accordion, the piano, the violin, and various percussion instruments.  And she sings!

What is especially inspiring about Melissa is that she does all that while maintaining a full-time job that involves the implementation of measures to nurture the planet!

One of the most amazing talents Melissa possesses is that she can sing her incredible song, “Tuna Paradise,” without laughing, although the big question on my mind is whether she’ll be able to sing it in its entirety tonight without laughing before she gets to the end?

I still haven’t seen her sing another of the songs for which is famous, “Marry Me,” though, without her shedding a tear at the most intensely emotional part of the song, and you can see a video clip of her singing that song when you click here.

There is, however, one secret I didn’t know about Melissa until yesterday:  She is also a tap dancer!

To see Melissa play all the instruments she can play in one night would have meant that we’d have had to rent a truck to bring her and her instruments to Holly’s house, so instead she is going to bring as many as she can carry with her two hands and on her back.  But she is going to bring her tap shoes too to show us some “moves that would make Jagger proud!”

With Cassandra starting off the night with a bedazzling array of her mesmerizing songs, all who attend this concert are most definitely in for a treat!
