“Untied” by Serotonen

December 24, 2009 by cliveswersky

Hello Friends:

”Untied” by Serotonen is the 22nd song to be featured on my Blog as part of my mission to provide you with inspiration through songs that have been performed by musicians on Alive with Clive in the past couple of years.

Serotonen’s lead vocalist, Jenna Handler, and pianist, Alex Gold, performed “Untied,” the first song from Serotonen’s debut album, when they appeared on Alive with Clive on February 20, 2009.

This is what you’ll discover about Serotonen from the band’s Bio on their Web site at www.serotonen.com:

What emerges upon listening to the New Jersey based five-piece rock band, Serotonen, is the sheer pleasure of their sound. Combining pop leaning, radio friendly melodies with the resonance and power of great modern rock, the band soars with an effortless sounding strength that is becoming their calling card in the New York music scene. Their new, self-titled debut album, serotonen, is the indisputable evidence of their skill, and should create a wide-open future for the band.

Serotonen comprises Jenna Handler on vocals, Alex Gold on piano and keyboards, Darren Darling on drums, Andrew Reyes on bass guitar, and Rich Wronski on guitar. The band was born out of an encounter in 2006 between Jenna and Alex, when Jenna was interviewing at a modeling agency where Alex worked.

Jenna’s vocal style is a blend of rock and pop, finding the spot where melody and brashness intersect. It’s fitting that Steven Tyler and Christina Aguilera are two of her greatest influences. Alex’s style emerged from a classic rock oriented background, a mixture of the song form of 60’s acts and the wild and free musical principles of artists unafraid of taking musical risks.

The songwriting process for the band is a simple one: Get together and just let it happen. Jenna elaborates, “Alex and I complement each other well. He has incredible musical intuition and an ability to channel unbelievable musical parts, and I’m really good at finding catchy, radio friendly melodies to lay over them. Then we write the lyrics together.”

Indeed, from the first notes of “Untied,” the opening track, it’s clear that this is a band in possession of a gift for songwriting, combining the dark hues of Alex’s piano, with a driving rhythm section and gritty guitar that leads into a hook filled chorus featuring Jenna’s soaring vocals.

With the release of serotonen, the band is now concentrating on developing a live following. Alex says, “Before, it was all about writing and readying to record. Now it’s about putting it out there. We’re ready to promote the album big time.” Jenna adds, “All we want is to spend our lives working on the music.” If the quality of the songs and performances on serotonen are any indication, that possibility is well within this band’s grasp.

The song, “Untied,” depicts one of the main themes of the album – losing one’s illusions about people, seeing them for who they really are and making it clear their acts of deceit will not be tolerated.

With “Untied,” more specifically, albeit indirectly, the song serves as a reminder that if you’ve been senselessly hoping and trusting that a person who has repeatedly let you down in a relationship will live up to your expectations next time around, you may be staying in the relationship to satisfy a desire to be liked, take comfort from what is familiar, or feel a sense of belonging.  The song inspires you to have the courage and sense of self worth to break loose from the relationship to find another that is more fulfilling.

Here is the chorus from “Untied”:

Why climb so high

To over and over unendingly

Collide with deceit

Well that’s over, move over

Untied, I’m free

Notwithstanding a late start as a contender for a slot in The Alive with Clive Top 20, Serotonen has accomplished what many thought was impossible to overtake all the other contenders and claim the top spot in The Alive with Clive Top 20 after only a few months, and lately has been extending its lead.

To see a recent Press Release about Serotonen’s rise to the top of The Alive with Clive Top 20, click here.

Serotonen was also one of the bands to perform at the first Alive with Clive Top 20 concert, after Jessica Labus and before Anthony Melillo and The Melillo Brothers, at Waltz-Astoria in Queens, New York, on May 30, 2009.

Here’s the video clip for you to enjoy of Serotonen performing “Untied” on Alive with Clive:

You can find out more about Serotonen on their Web site at www.serotonen.com and on their MySpace page at www.myspace.com/serotonenmusic.

As mentioned above, Serotonen is currently in 1st place in The Alive with Clive Top 20.

“Religion” by Dani Tersini

December 23, 2009 by cliveswersky

Hello Friends:

”Religion” by Dani Tersini is the twenty-first song to be featured on my Blog as part of my mission to provide you with inspiration through songs that have been performed by musicians on Alive with Clive in the past couple of years.

Dani performed “Religion” during her appearance on Alive with Clive with his brothers on April 24, 2009.

This is what you’ll discover about Dani from her Bio on her MySpace page at www.myspace.com/dani_tersini

Wildly passionate, fiery and expressive. Dani Tersini’s performances are about letting go, releasing energy, breathing fire and smoldering with her audience.  Being an innovative artist with versatility, imagination and power, Tersini’s essence expresses an eclectic blend of sounds reflecting the many facets of emotion stirring from within.  Boldly following her dream and escaping from England to the Big Apple and not knowing a single soul, Dani is now surviving in the music capital of the world, and rocking the stages of venues such as The Bitter End, The Sidewalk Café, Banjo Jim’s and Caffe Vivaldi.  She continues to thrive, stamping her own individuality on her music and performance.

When asked on Alive with Clive if she has a Big Dream for her life, she said:

My Big Dream has always been to perform in front of millions of people… just to feel everyone’s energy together… everyone’s energy bouncing off each other and everyone being as one with the music… and to have that sense of community and everyone being universal… peace and love and music!

During her interview, Dani mentioned that John Lennon has always been a huge inspiration in her life, and his song, “Imagine”, inspired her to write her song, “Religion.”

In “Religion,” Dani in essence poses this thought-provoking question:  “Isn’t it ironic that religion is the cause of so much conflict in the world?”  With penetrating, heartfelt, lyrics the song represents a plea for all people to dispense with hatred and violence and to have compassion and love for one another.

Here is the chorus:

Oh why, I said why do we feel so angry?

Feel the need to kill, to beat our brother

Is it justice, I think not?

Oh why? It only constricts our soul

Burns a hole in our world

What happened to, I said

And you call that religion?

“Religion” is a powerful song that has the potential to influence the world’s political and religious leaders and become known throughout the world.  Furthermore, it’s an extraordinary contribution to the world so early in the music career of a young lady who is destined to make her mark on the world with her music through her passion and dedication to her craft.

Here’s the video clip for you to enjoy of Dani Tersini singing “Religion” on Alive with Clive:

You can find out more about Dani Tersini at www.myspace.com/dani_tersini.

Dani Tersini is currently 29th on the list of contenders for a slot in The Alive with Clive Top 20.

“That’s My Son” by Anthony Melillo

December 19, 2009 by cliveswersky

Hello Friends:

”That’s My Son” by Anthony Melillo is the twentienth song to be featured on my Blog as part of my mission to provide you with inspiration through songs that have been performed by musicians on Alive with Clive in the past couple of years.

Anthony, who has appeared on Alive with Clive twice, the first time with his brothers, Joe and Nick, and the second time on his own, performed “That’s My Son” during his first interview on Alive with Clive with his brothers on February 22, 2008.  Together, they are developing a following as The Melillo Brothers.

This is what Anton Evangelista, President of Comprehensive Films, has said about Anthony:

“Every once in a while, a talent comes along and everything clicks – voice, lyrics, music, performed by a young man who makes it all look so easy.  Be on the lookout for Anthony Melillo – a singer/songwriter who brings together all the elements of great original music, beyond his young years!”

As revealed in their first interview and as mentioned in the Bio on their MySpace page at www.myspace.com/melillomusicpro:

It all began for Anthony Melillo and The Melillo Brothers when Joe, who was an accomplished baseball player throughout his youth, began beating on a set of drums at the age of 14 or 15 while Nick, two years younger, started to play the guitar.  After a couple of years, the two decided to switch roles.  At the age of ten, to participate with his older brothers, Anthony began to play with a bass guitar, but replaced that instrument after one year with an acoustic guitar, and has been writing songs ever since.

From the age of 13, Anthony has had an uncanny ability to use intricate lyrics to draw in his listeners.  Musicians and producers alike are left amazed at the depth and perception that comes from his young, creative, mind. He is a unique personality being well rounded, yet passionate about his music and songwriting. An avid actor, singer and dancer, the energy he gives every project is nothing short of electric.  As a result, his fan base spans all ages and is enjoying his debut album, Just Gettin’ Started, which includes “That’s My Son.”

More recently, Joe has studied entrepreneurship at Pace University and Nick majored in theater at SUNY, New Paltz.  Anthony will soon begin studying music composition, songwriting and vocal studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.

In recent months, the 18-year old Anthony has been performing to a growing base of fans at venues in Westchester, Manhattan, and other surrounding areas on his own and with Joe, who is now 23, and Nick, who is 21.

They were the headlining act at the first Alive with Clive Top 20 concert held at Waltz-Astoria in Queens, New York, on May 30, 2009, where they performed after Jessica Labus and Serotonen, and most appropriately ended the evening with a wonderful rendition of “That’s My Son.”

For several months, Anthony and The Melillo Brothers owned the top spot on The Alive with Clive Top 20 Chart, and remain high up on the Chart in second place.

In February 2009, another song from Just Gettin’ Started, “Kiss Me Sweetly” was voted The Alive with Clive Valentine’s Day Love Song For 2009.  To see the Press Release announcing this accomplishment, click here.

Among other successes, as noted on their MySpace page, in the first round of a recent JanSport Battle of the Bands contest, The Melillo Brothers finished in third place out of 2,400 contestants!  In addition, in the 2009 UK Songwriting Contest, out of 6,000 submissions “Kiss Me Sweetly” and “That’s My Son” were semi-finalists and “Never Slow Down,” another song from Just Gettin’ Started, was a finalist.

Anthony’s goal is to have his music be enjoyed and appreciated by music lovers all over the world. While he continues to write new songs, he looks forward to seeing his existing fans and meeting new fans at his upcoming appearances and shows.

Personally, I regard the song, “That’s My Son,” as a masterpiece.  In my view, it’s a song every son wants his parents to hear, and the same can be said for every daughter too.  I get goose bumps every time I hear it.  It touches on a motivating force that underlies, usually unwittingly, so many choices we make and actions we take in our lives – and yet it’s a force people so rarely mention in their conversations with others.  In essence, the song is about noticing that we want our parents to be proud of us, and as parents we want to be proud of our children.  That sentiment is expressed eloquently and beautifully in the song.

To give you a sense of what I mean about the song, here’s the chorus:

I said I’d work real hard and I’ll do everything that you say

Cause all I wanna be is someone you look at, be led to say

That’s my boy, that’s my son

That’s my baby, my flesh and my blood

And he’s grown into someone that I can be proud of

That’s my boy, that’s the one

Doing his job and he’s having some fun

And you both look at me and be proud to say – yeah –

That’s My Son!

Needless to say, with “That’s My Son” and everything else Anthony, Nick and Joe are accomplishing at such a young age, they are making their parents, Joanne and Ray, very proud!

Here’s the video clip for you to enjoy of Anthony Melillo and The Melillo Brothers singing “That’s My Son” on Alive with Clive:

“Save The World” by Irena Hart

December 17, 2009 by cliveswersky

Hello Friends:

“Save The World” by Irena Hart is the nineteenth song to be featured on my Blog as part of my mission to provide you with inspiration through songs that have been performed by musicians on Alive with Clive in the past couple of years.

Irena, who has appeared on Alive with Clive three times, performed “Save The World” during her second interview on Alive with Clive on October 10, 2008.

This is what you’ll discover about Irena from her Bio on her MySpace page at www.myspace.com/irenahart:

Combine pop, dance, a message with spiritual compassion and love and you get Irena Hart.  Born in the Ukraine as Irena Makarchuk, Irena moved to the United States when she was 12 and brought with her a European perspective that provides freshness to her music.  She is a prolific composer with over 100 songs written, and is also an entertainer.  Having developed a fan base in the New York area, Irena is now ready to explode on to the world stage.

There is something uniquely different about this musical beauty.  A trained mechanical engineer, she holds 10 patents that range from medical science to ecologically friendly photo film. With so many talents and gifts, her passions lie with inspiring and empowering the homeless — and for a reason.  She was homeless for two years.  Take Irena’s heart, creativity, intellectual brilliance, and experiences and join them with the innovative American pop producer, Marcus “Bellringer” Bell, and you have a hit album that can move the masses.

Irena’s electrifying album, “Heart Strings,” [with a sound I describe as Lady Gaga meets ABBA], contemplates love and also keeps you “On the Dance Floor.”  The first release off of the album is the title track, “Heart Strings.”  The music video for “Heart Strings” is a display of the struggle to let go of the person you love when you know he or she is no good for you.  The video showcases her talent and creativity as a dynamic artist.  Along with its catchy dance melodies and memorable hooks, the “Heart Strings” album is sure to provide mega-hits across Europe and the US.

Irena is not only an entertainer.  She is also becoming a visible personality and brand.  She has been a freelance reporter for Oasis TV, a Los Angeles based Time Warner Cable TV network; appeared as a musical guest on many radio and television shows, such as WPKN, WICC, WVOF, SIRIUS Radio, and Alive with Clive, to name a few; and was featured in the October 2008 issue of Better Health and Living Magazine as well as in the Connecticut Post.  She wrote the theme music for a TV show, Touchstones (which she also hosted); wrote and recorded the theme song called “It’s Our Turn” for the Boltwic online community; and composed and recorded the Harmony4Kidz theme song, “Save the World.”

Irena has personally touched and affected over 100 homeless kids that sleep on the streets of America.  Her musical talents and the reflection of their plight in her own experience compelled her to form the not-for-profit organization, Harmony4Kidz.  Through Harmony4Kidz, she seeks to feed, clothe, and find shelter for homeless youth all over the world.  Irena is also working on a book about her homeless experience called Bermuda Road. With music and the arts, Irena transforms lives with her authentic story. Her music and personhood have powerful messages and international appeal.

Irena Hart is a happening about to happen.  As she takes the global stage — get ready — and dance!

During her second interview on Alive with Clive on October 10, 2008, Irena explained where the inspiration for the song, “Save The World,” came from, as follows:

“I was planning a concert in Central Park and needed a street team of kids to spread the word.  A 17-year old girl brought us to a team of kids to do the street team job.  It turned out they were all homeless kids.  It was a real shock to me.  Right that night, after I met all the kids, I went to see the Al Gore movie, ‘An Inconvenient Truth,’ about global warming and everything that’s going on, and… just… the two incidents together really upset me.  First of all, why are there homeless kids in the heart of New York City?  It was Union Square Park, and, you know, up to that point I was pretty much self-absorbed doing my own thing not really thinking about the environment, not really thinking about that there might be people that are in need.  Well, I woke up the next morning with a song – which… I normally don’t wake up with a song… usually I have to sit down… it doesn’t just happen… all… the whole song with the melody line, all the chords and everything – and it’s called ‘Save The World.’”

The themes of homelessness and global warming, together with Irena’s awakening, are thus deftly woven into the lyrics of “Save The World,” in which she declares:

Me I was sleeping

I didn’t have big dreams at all

Then I woke up one day.  I decided to

Save the world

. . . .

Me I am no one special

Just your average ordinary girl

But I can make a difference

Cause I decided I can

Save the world

That experience, as noted in Irena’s Bio above, also led her to form Harmony4Kidz.  She has gone on to organize and perform at benefit concerts to raise funds for Harmony4Kidz and continues to take steps to carry out the mission of the organization.  For more information about Harmony4Kidz, go to www.harmony4kidz.org.

On behalf of all of us, I hereby acknowledge Irena not just for taking action when she was called upon to do so to write and record the song, “Save The World,” but also for the positive, uplifting and inspiring impact she has had in sharing the song with all of us and creating Harmony4Kidz.  Thank you, Irena!

Here’s the video clip for you to enjoy of Irena Hart singing “Save The World” on Alive with Clive:

You can find out more about Irena Hart at www.myspace.com/irenahart.

“Extraordinary You” by Diana Page

December 16, 2009 by cliveswersky

Hello Friends:

”Extraordinary You” by Diana Page is the eighteenth song to be featured on my Blog as part of my mission to provide you with inspiration through songs that have been performed by musicians on Alive with Clive in the past couple of years.

Diana performed “Extraordinary You” during her second interview on Alive with Clive on March 13, 2009.

Here is her Bio from her MySpace page, www.myspace.com/dianapage, in her own words:

“I grew up in New York City on the upper east side.  I never considered doing anything else besides music whether it be singing or songwriting.  It just never occurred to me to do anything else.  I’ve been singing on commercials and doing voice-overs since I was 6 years old which has afforded me the luxury to write and record songs at my leisure without playing the part of the struggling artist.  Actually it has been recently that I gave up that role.  I always figured that no one would be interested in someone who was generally a happy person.  Well, that was silly.  In other words, I have found my authenticity — meaning it’s ok to write happy positive songs and still be “cool”.  I would say my childhood was somewhat normal — other than being a busy jingle singer in elementary school. . .  and having a mom that fed us 3 bean sandwiches for lunch when everyone was eating PB&J. . . and meditating when all the other kids were watching TV. . . and moving from New York to Iowa in Jr. High… — Ok well maybe my childhood wasn’t that normal.  But it was happy and loving.  And I mean happy and loving as in I hate my parents and I can’t wait to turn 18 and move out kind of way haha which probably means my parents were doing something right.  I always loved being in the studio the most.  I learned to record myself early on because my dad wasn’t doing it fast enough for me.  (Oh yea and I had full access to my dad’s recording studio.)  So that has been the biggest bonus for me. . . being able to record my own vocals and not have to rely on anyone to engineer.  My other favorite thing is songwriting.  It is so much fun to write songs and collaborate with really talented people.  I still cannot grasp the concept of how a finished song manifests out of nothing.  It’s amazing.  From the moment you sit down and say “ok what should we write about?” to mixing the demo, it’s an adventure.  And after every adventure I smile and feel fulfilled for a fleeting moment until I embark on the next one.” -d

Diana spent time in 2008 and the earlier part of 2009 to write and record a series of spiritually soulful songs with “a healing quality – easy on the ears and uplifting to the spirit” – for a band called Purple Sirus.  These songs can be heard at the MySpace page for Purple Siruswww.myspace.com/purplesirus.

Diana is also an exceptionally talented actress and comedienne, and her talent as such is on display in a humorous clip with an important message for the planet called:  “Don’t Go Paperless!”  Here is the clip:

Because of its positive and uplifting message, her song, “Extraordinary You,” was featured in a Public Service Announcement as part of a campaign for Strong American Schools backed by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  Other artists who participated in the campaign included Jason Mraz, Natasha Bedingfield, Colbie Caillat, Ashanti, and Kanye West.

We all have a critical voice inside our head.  For many, that voice often saps energy, eliminates inspiration, produces anxiety and causes a sense of disempowerment.

“Extraordinary You” is the perfect antidote to that critical voice.

Here is an excerpt from the chorus of “Extraordinary You”:

If you could only see what I’d see you’d realize that

You’re extraordinary no one else can fill your shoes

Every move you make is so uniquely you

You’re extraordinary I know you’re one of a kind

Lucky me I turned around to find

Extraordinary you

Imagine, too, if every person started each day by listening to or singing “Extraordinary You!”  People would be far more likely to revere themselves and each other, and collectively we’d be providing the mindset to create an upward spiral of brilliance and joy in the world!

Here’s the video clip, including the public service announcement for Strong American Schools, for you to enjoy of Diana Page singing “Extraordinary You” on Alive with Clive:

“Oh No No” by Kylie Edmond

December 13, 2009 by cliveswersky

Hello Friends:

Oh No No by Kylie Edmond is the seventeenth song to be featured on my Blog as part of my mission to provide you with inspiration through songs that have been performed by musicians on Alive with Clive over the past couple of years.

Kylie performed Oh No No during her first interview on Alive with Clive on November 7, 2008.

As mentioned in her Bio on her MySpace page, www.myspace.com/kylieedmond:

Kylie is originally from sunny Perth in Western Australia.  Although she had been writing songs on and off over the years, it wasn’t until a trip to London a few years ago that she decided to make things happen.  Sitting in a hotel room watching the London rain, she decided it was time to follow her heart and pursue her passions.  So she moved to New York City in search of inspiration and adventure.

In recent months, at established music venues in and outside New York City, Kylie has been participating in a popular series of concerts she created called “Girls Rock The Night!” alongside such other emerging female musicians who have been on Alive with Clive as Jessica Labus, Athena Reich, Melissa Wrolstad, Dani Tersini, Cassandra Kubinski and Kelsey Rauber — and one lucky guy, Robert Daniels, who has also been on Alive with Clive.

Kylie was signed to music publishing company, Missing Link Music, in January 2009 and has been spending time in the studio recording new songs with her co-writer, Griffin.  She recently performed for the SESAC Writers on the Storm showcase for up-and-coming talent and was featured as a Spotlight Member with the Songwriters Guild of America.  She has played in famous New York City venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, Baggot Inn, The Bitter End, Caffe Vivaldi, The Sidewalk Cafe, Banjo Jim’s, Parkside Lounge and Waltz-Astoria.

Kylie is one of the most inspiring, energetic and entertaining emerging musicians to have been interviewed on Alive with Clive.  At the start of her second interview on Alive with Clive recently, I described her as an I-D-E-A-L role model, with the word I-D-E-A-L representing an acronym for:

I – Inspiring

D – Dynamic

E – Exciting

A – Action-Oriented

L –  Loving

In short, you can learn a lot about turning your passion into profit and multiplying your magnificence from Kylie Edmond.  And it’s wonderful to see her blossoming as a musician too.

Kylie wrote Oh No No after a friend of hers told her that she was trapped in a relationship in which she was being subjected to violent abuse.  Statistics reveal that a disturbingly high percentage of women are victims of domestic abuse in their relationships.  The message of the song provides powerful words of encouragement to women to ignore the internal voice that causes them to justify staying in that kind of relationship so they can disentangle themselves from their living nightmare and start anew.

Here is one of the verses from Oh No No:

Walk away

And leave your hell in the past

Better off alone

Alone at last

Take your pride

Leave everything else behind

Got wings to fly

You shine so bright

While the song is focused primarily to provide support for women who are in relationships in which they are being violently abused, the message can be applied by anyone who is being victimized by adverse circumstances over which they feel they don’t have any power or control.

Here’s the video clip for you to enjoy of Kylie Edmond singing Oh No No accompanied by her guitarist, William Rottman, on Alive with Clive:

Turning Votes Into Dollars To Combat AIDS!

November 19, 2009 by cliveswersky

A few days ago, I read an encouraging article by Susan Smith Ellis, CEO of (RED), titled One Step Closer to Universal AIDS Prevention and Care, which was posted on October 28, 2009, in The Huffington Post, about the progress being made to combat AIDS in Africa with the support of (RED).

Here are some of the highlights:

  • There are now more than 4 million people on antiretroviral treatments, up from 3 million the previous year.
  • Nearly half of all HIV positive pregnant women who need treatment to help prevent the transmission of HIV to their child during birth are now getting it.
  • Now more people have access to testing and counseling for HIV than ever before.
  • To date, through the sale of (RED)-branded products and (RED)-sponsored special events, (RED) has generated over $135 million for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in less than three years.

In the article, it is noted that while progress has been made toward universal access to medication and treatment, nearly 5 million people who need antiretroviral treatment still can’t get it; half of all HIV positive pregnant women still need access to treatment to help prevent their children from contracting HIV during birth; and the vast majority of people living with HIV are unaware of their infection status because the simply don’t have access to HIV testing.

The following paragraph, in particular, caught my attention:

It can cost as little as 40 cents a day to provide ARV treatment to an individual in Africa and just $26 to provide the medicine to help prevent the transmission of HIV from a mother to her unborn child. These are small things that need to happen on a grand scale.

The article concludes with this statement:

The UN Development Goals set forth a challenge to reverse the spread of AIDS by 2015 and to provide universal access to treatment for those with HIV/AIDS by 2010.  It’s not going to be easy, but it’s possible.  And we’re gaining on it.

After reading this article, I thought to myself:  Imagine if for every vote that is cast for a musician to be in The Alive with Clive Top 20 a dollar went to the Global Fund .

While the number of votes that are cast every day varies, on some days lately more than 90 votes have been cast.  And that is with only a few of the 65 eligible musicians in action to generate votes.

So I began to ask myself what it would take to create a way for the number of votes to be increased and a dollar to be paid to the Global Fund for every vote that is cast.  And guess what:  I have created a plan to make that happen!

The plan is based on the philosophy of synergistic philanthrocapitalism, the exciting new way to do business so that everybody wins — as expounded on one of my Web sites, www.synergisticphilanthrocapitalism.com — and creates a beneficial outcome for every person, entity and group involved.

For my plan to succeed, it’s going to be necessary for me to show to the influential partners, supporters and potential sponsors I will be approaching in the days ahead that lots of votes are being cast on a daily basis – at a minimum, much more than 100 a day.

Under my plan, if at least one hundred and four votes are cast per day, at least $3,120 a month would be made available to the Global Fund.  That would mean that each month at least 120 more pregnant mothers would receive the medicine necessary to prevent the transmission of HIV to their unborn children.

And I know that the fans of the 65 musicians currently eligible for a slot in The Alive with Clive Top 20 can generate much more than 104 votes a day.

While I am not yet ready to reveal my plan to the general public, I can say that it involves giving much more national and international exposure to the musicians who generate the most votes.

So, please, if you’re one of the contenders for a slot in The Alive with Clive Top 20, encourage all your fans to vote for you every day, and if you’re a fan, please organize street teams to obtain votes for the musician or band you are supporting.

Also, if you would like to find out more about my plan or assist me in carrying it out, or know corporate sponsors who’d be willing to do so, please let me know by sending an email to me at clive@alivewithclive.tv with the words “Turning Votes Into Dollars To Combat AIDS!” on the subject line.

Together, we can help to conquer AIDS, save lives, cause healthy babies to be born to mothers with HIV, reverse the spread of AIDS by 2015, provide universal access to treatment for those with HIV/AIDS by 2010, and create an upward spiral of brilliance and joy in the world!

Announcing The Ultimate Virus And Spyware Killer PC!

October 1, 2009 by cliveswersky

Hello Friends:

It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me, and I’ve missed you!

In case you’re wondering why I haven’t been in communication, here’s the reason:

About three months ago, you might recall, I told you that I was having issues with my computers.

For several years, I’ve owned a Dell Latitude Desktop that was running Windows Millennium.

I also own a Dell Inspiron laptop computer.

A few weeks ago, I received a message on my desktop computer that the anti-virus software provider I use no longer supports Windows Millennium, and because of all the viruses on the Internet, I could not risk using that computer to browse the Internet.  So that computer has been turned into a glorified hi-fi system, since all I use it for now is to listen to the CDs of the brilliant emerging musicians, like Serotonen, Anthony Melillo and The Melillo Brothers, and Irena Hart, who I’ve been interviewing on Alive with Clive, as well as, I confess, a few others I love.

That left me with my laptop, and as mentioned my laptop has at least one virus that has made it slower than molasses.

That, in turn, put me on a quest to find a solution to my computer woes.

Do I buy another PC and deal with anti-virus software, which doesn’t always work since it failed to prevent my laptop from getting a virus, or do I buy a Mac?  Or, is there an even better alternative hardly any one knows about?

In my quest to find the ultimate computer, through the law of attraction, I was introduced to a man who has created a computer with lots of fabulous features. But the most fabulous feature of all is that it is immune to viruses, and I interviewed him and the public relations director of his company on Alive with Clive.

So impressed was I with what this man and his public relations director had to say about the amazing computer he has invented that I decided to help them tell the world all about it

I thought it would take only a couple of weeks to put the marketing materials together, but as I began to work on the project I realized that if people who own PCs are going to consider buying this computer, they are going to need answers to lots of questions first.

So, over the past twelve weeks, while creating a Web site and accompanying components to offer this computer to the public, I’ve been obtaining answers to each and every single question anyone might think to ask, and have compiled these answers in a document that is now available to anyone who would like to read it.

Now, clearly, you’re probably asking yourself, what makes this computer so unique and amazing, and is it really immune to viruses?  And if it is so amazing, would it be possible for me to get one?  And if I can buy one, will it cost a fortune?

Those are great questions and I commend you for asking them!

The wonderful news for you is that because you receive email from me or are reading this Blog post, you can be one of the first to discover all you want to know about this PC and how to buy one at an incredible bargain if you’d like to do so now before the crowds get to hear about it and create a huge backlog of orders.

But first, I’d like you PLEASE to do me a BIG favor, and if you do I have a SUPER GIFT for you!

You see, we are just getting started rolling out this PC to the public and we would love you to help us create the slogan for this PC.

I’ve created a form for you to fill out.  The form has a few slogans, and what I’d like you to do is grade each slogan on a scale of 1 to 5 based on how much you like each one.  If you like each one a lot, you can give each one a 5, or if you like none of them, you can give them each a 1. When all the submissions are in, I will add up all the scores for each one.  The slogan with the highest score will win.

Here are the slogans you’ll find on the form at the following Web site address:

http://theultimatevirusandspywarekillerpc.com/slogans.htm

1.  Have no fear when any virus or spyware is near!

2.  With this PC, viruses and spyware are history!

3.  Oh my goodness gracious me, this low-cost PC is a luxury!

4.  It’s not just a PC.  It’s an epiphany!

5.  With this PC, I am worry free!

On the form, there’s also room for you to suggest a slogan or few of your own and leave any comments, thoughts, ideas or suggestions.  Any input or feedback will be very much appreciated.

I’ve also made it possible for you to provide me with the names and email addresses of friends of yours who you think would like to know about the ultimate virus and spyware killer PC and receive the FREE Special Report mentioned below.

Here again is the Web site address for you to grade the slogans and post your thoughts:

“Failure Is Impossible” by Allison Scola

July 6, 2009 by cliveswersky

Hello Friends:

Failure Is Impossible by Allison Scola is the sixteenth song to be featured on my Blog as part of my mission to provide you with inspiration through songs that have been performed by musicians on Alive with Clive over the past couple of years.

Allison performed Failure Is Impossible during her interview on Alive with Clive on January 9, 2009.

As mentioned in her Bio on her Web site, www.allisonscola.com

After months of working 12 -14 hour days at a top New York advertising agency, songwriter and singer Allison Scola realized that she had missed her true destination by just a few hundred yards:  That moment was when she discovered that day in and day out on her way to the office, she had been walking right past the Brill Building, the songwriting headquarters of the 1940s to 1970s.  Within hours she quit her job, and since has thrown herself into crafting songs and performing.

In 2006, Allison performed in New York’s Columbus Day Parade, and in 2007 she wooed audiences during her Italian Day pre-game performance at the New York Met’s Shea Stadium and Staten Island Yankees Stadium.  In the summer of 2007, her band, Allison Scola Project, was voted a finalist in the CBS News Early Show “Living Room Live! Battle of the Bands Contest.”

Allison creates songs that weave hues of her Italian heritage and fascination with Mediterranean folk culture together with personal accounts of her experience as a modern American artist taking risks in love and life.  Her latest album, A Braver Kind, produced by Janie Barnett and engineered and mixed by Jon Gordon, illustrates her power as a songwriter and musician.  With a voice that’s been described by Music-Reviewer.com as “comforting and all-embracing, like being in the presence of your long lost best friend,” Allison transports listeners to a world where hearts are bursting and dreams come true.

While introducing the song, Failure Is Impossible, during her interview on Alive with Clive, Allison, who studied gender issues and feminism in college, said that “Failure Is Impossible” is a phrase she borrowed from Susan B. Anthony, one of her heroes, who devoted her life to a 72-year struggle to secure voting rights for women and equal rights for all.  The accomplishments of Susan B. Anthony paved the way in 1920, 14 years after her death, for the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.  The words, “Failure Is Impossible,” are the last public words of Susan B. Anthony and became the mantra women used to gain the right to vote.

“Failure is impossible,” said Allison, “points to: It’s impossible to fail because you’ve just got to keep pushing forwards.”

In keeping with this philosophy, there is an acronym I have created for the word F-A-I-L-U-R-E, and it stands for Fully Alive In Life, Unstoppable, Relentless, Ecstatic!

Here are excerpts from the lyrics of Failure Is Impossible:

Obstacles sometimes crowd my path

Step back, brush off, have a laugh

Like the tree I may have to bend

Then I’ll swing back again

. . .

Failure is impossible

Failure is impossible

Anything is possible

When you’re determined to achieve a goal, it helps a lot to take heed of Susan B. Anthony’s words, as echoed by Allison in her song, and remind yourself that “Failure Is Impossible.”

Here’s the video clip for you to enjoy of Allison Scola singing Failure Is Impossible accompanied by Janie Barnett on Alive with Clive:

You can find out more about Allison Scola at www.myspace.com/allisonscola as well as at www.allisonscola.com, where you’ll find several video clips of her singing songs at DROM, the venue for her CD Release party for A Braver Kind.

Allison is currently in 5th place in The Alive with Clive Top 20.
